Recently, The Ferret was made aware that a number of Police Scotland email addresses appear in a cache of emails published by Wikileaks.
The emails were hacked - somewhat ironically - from an Italian "offensive cyber-security" firm called Hacking Team. It sells controversial tools to government agencies all over the world, that allow officials to gain access to other people's computers and phones.
The Wiki leaks archive throws up little of substance, with regard to Police Scotland and in a an FOI response seeking records of communications between the police and the firm the police claimed they had no records of any communication between them and Hacking Team at all.
Unless something more conclusive comes to light, we can file this one under "no further action."
For the record, you can download the FOI here.
