Over on Mechanical Turk, an Amazon service that sources cheap labour for manual jobs from the global workforce, far-right US blog sites are reportedly asking people to write 350-500 word blog posts for just $5
According to the briefs, posted online by Freelancer, Rochelle LaPlante, the websites are asking workers to re-write an already published article on another site in the style of leading "alt-right" figures.
It adds, "At times, we may give you conspiracy theories to write about. Roll with it!" and concludes with "Get snarky, get mad, voice your opinion! You are a reporter now!"
The Ferret have been unable to verify the requests independently as they appear to have been removed from Mechanical Turk.
Whilst some of the people writing for these sites are apparently getting very poorly paid, the people who run the sites could be doing pretty well out it.
This feature in the Independent suggest some site owners make more than enough to give up the day job:
